Our History
In 1999, the challenging and optimistic idea for creating a new hospital emerged from the initiative of a group of renowned doctors, who joined a team of prominent Panamanian entrepreneurs, eager to offer a high-level category hospital to the population.
In 2001, we established a successful affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine International. Johns Hopkins Medicine International is the global arm of Johns Hopkins Medicine, one of the leading academic health care systems in the United States.

This modern medical complex emerged from the ideals and hopes of a group of prominent Panamanian physicians, who became associated with renowned businessmen and had the vision to provide Panama, Latin America, and the world, with a hospital that offers the highest standards of quality care, safety, and technology. The commitment to this vision is demonstrated through Pacifica Salud Hospital affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine International the global arm of Johns Hopkins Medicine, one of the leading academic health care systems in the United States, provides consulting to HPP in the areas of clinical program and staff development, quality and patient safety.
Using the knowledge shared by Johns Hopkins Medicine, PS leaders developed major aspects of the organization’s design including medical protocols and procedures, quality assurance programs, technological infrastructure, and the architecture of the facility.
The tools and controls in support of patient safety, are present in all those indicators that sometimes are invisible, and are fully applied in very few hospitals such as, constants air changes, laminar flow hoods, positive and negative pressure depending on the fluid therapy requirements, that ensure the correct application of intravenous medication, among others; helping to greatly reduce the risks of nosocomial infections, thus preserving patient safety.
