When Pacífica Salud: Hospital Punta Pacifica opened its doors in the year 2006, the administrative, medical and nursing staff joined efforts to establish the hospital’s protocols and procedures, while preparing the staff and hospital to achieve the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. As part of this process, new protocols and initiatives were implemented, such as: the “Time-Out” or surgical pause that makes sure the correct surgery is given to the correct patient, at the correct site; the hand hygiene campaign and continuous education program, among others.
